Northwich Transport Strategy

Have your say on the new transport strategy for Northwich by giving your views on how the town can improve transport links. The strategy is being developed to address current traffic congestion in and around Northwich. As part of the transport strategy, the current congestion at Winnington Bridge is being reviewed.
The proposals being put forward under Highway schemes include: -
UA07  Bring closed private road up to required standard to support alternative route north through Marbury Country Park.
UA08  Utilisation of former TATA railway line to the south of the River Weaver to form a road link and new bridge crossing linking Cosgrove Business Park.
Since the closure of Marbury Lane into Northwich, the area has seen a big increase in the number of visitors to Marbury Country Park, as well as many walkers, cyclists and dog walkers using the old unadopted road as a means of traversing the Country Park. Individual Parish Councillors are aghast at the recommendation to reopen Marbury Lane especially when part of the consultation is to encourage sustainable transport by supporting journeys on foot and by bicycle. By reopening the road as an official highway, to support the residential developments planned for Northwich including the new Winnington Village this will increase the amount of traffic through the village to and from the A559 en route to Jct 10 of the M56 and beyond.
Residents of Comberbach can have their say in this consultation and the Parish Council would urge residents to attend one of the many Public drop-in sessions that have been scheduled as part of the consultation
